Spring is in the air and my sewing room...

I recently turned one of the bedrooms in my house into my "Sewing Only" room and I love it! I have material that I just could not figure out what I wanted to do with, but now that I can see it hanging up, I can see why I purchased it. I even have some material that I forgot even existed! (That's what happens when your space doesn't grow as fast as your collection!) I enjoy sewing because I get to carry or wear something that no one else has (and could not get!), because I get to form my own idea of what something should look like and because I can have my own style! It is so much fun creating and even more fun seeing someone taking an interest in something I made.

The picture of the handbag above is a beautiful cotton/linen material. The cotton rope is used for the handle and also pulls the bag closed. There is a magnet closure on the inside and it is fully lined with a cotton/polyester lining. This bag is currently for sale in my Etsy shop. Check it out, I am busy working, taking pics and posting so check back often to see what's new!

While you're online, check out Mocha Child Greetings blog. They are hosting a Mother's Day Giveaway and I am participating. You have until April 25, to enter your name. No purchase necessary.

Working up to Posting and April Giveaway

Sometimes I get so busy with sewing that I forget that I need to post in order to sell! Well, I have been taking lots of pictures and can't wait to show you all that I have been working on. I will begin posting items soon, so be on the lookout. I am also participating in a Mother's Day Giveaway that Mocha Child Greetings is hosting. It starts April 1 and will run through April 25. Be on the look out for more information and a link to enter.

I guess that's it for now. I will post more tomorrow and get ready for my new items!

First Quarter Donations

In April of this year we donated 3% of our first quarter profit to P.E.T.A. (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). I have donated to this organization for a few years personally and thanks to you, I am able to donate a little more. Every little bit counts! If you have an organization that you contribute funds or volunteer time to, let me know about them. I would love to help out when and where I can.

Finally Made One for Me!

Some times I get so caught up in making items to sell that I forget I need a purse too! I had some material left from an ethnic print that I really liked. I decided to make a purse for myself and although it is tempting to put it up to sell, this one is for me.

Scarf Continued

And in this picture, the scarf is carefully placed around the waist. If you have a broach pin that you like, it would be perfect for the closure on the side. For this pic I didn't have anything to close it but a safety pin (that works too if you are in a hurry!) Wear this around a long coordinating skirt or around denim pants or skirt.

Stylish Scarves

I love scarves! You can do so much with them, tie them around your waist, double them up around your shoulder and the same old drape them around your neck. No matter how you wear it, wearing scarves are awesome. Take this scarf for example. In the above picture, the scarf is doubled up around the neck sporting the latest fashion.
